Founded in 2000, Golden Voice Choir was enrolled in Shanghai College Students Art Group as a first batch of selected unit in 2013. Members of the choir consist of more than 70 students from different majors around the campus. Having outstanding strengths and priority to development, the choir is the most historical art group in our school. Xu Yizhong is the conductors at present, Wei Qidan serves as the instructor.
The choir participate in all sorts of exchange visits and performances in school and out of the school actively. In recent years, it has made excellent achievements in competitions of all levels.
In 2011, the choir won a Silver Award in Shanghai “Red Classics” College Singing Contest and a "Best Creative” Award by an adapted song "Singing a New Song to The Party”.
In 2012, the choir won the first prize of chorus and an “Excellent Team” title in the third session of Shanghai College Students Art Competition with “Under the Silver Moonlight” and “Qingzang Plateau”
In 2012, the choir participated in the Red Cross Youth Chorus Competition with “Road to Heaven” and “Song of Red Cross” and won the third prize.
In December of 2012, the choir held the "Sound - Rhythm" chorus concert successfully.
On April 18th, 2013, the choir made an exchange performance in Hangzhou Finance University. It was warmly welcomed and highly appreciated.
On June 9th, 2013, the choir performed in “China Dream” Shanghai College Students Chorus Concert at Shanghai Music Hall and was highly praised.
In December of 2013, the choir held the "New - Voice” chorus concert successfully.
On May 15th, 2014, the choir participated in the thirty-first session of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival "New Voice Power" Chorus Concert.
On December 30th, 2014, the choir successfully hosted a new-year concert named “I’ve sung out the sounds of the world”.
In July 2015, Golden Voice Choir won Silver A Award and Performance Gold Diploma in Category B3 – Youth Choir, SATB voices (Age 29 or under, 25 singers or above) of World Youth & Children’s Choir Festival, Hong Kong 2015. Also, SFU Golden Voice Choir was invited to perform at the Music Connection ? Friendly Concert.
Golden Voice Choir has a great passion for exploration and innovation in order to make a breakthrough. Nowadays, it integrates modern elements into songs that makes the music styles more popular and diversified. Making the style of chorus performance more various is not only to meet the audience’s enjoyment of hearing but also becomes a visual feast. In future, the choir will convey finance and chorus culture actively with its beautiful voice under the guidance of our school motto “display honesty and cultivate virtue, foster ambition and contribute to society”, and reach new heights.
