On March 6, 2024, Ashraf Jawaid, CEO of the International Education Group, Richard Davie, Director of International Recruitment at the Centre for Language and Linguistics at the University of Canterbury, UK, and Colin Wang, Head of the Recruitment Office at the University of Canterbury, visited our university for a friendly meeting and discussion. Yao Jie, Head of InternationalOfficeand Dean of the School of International Exchange, Shen Yuehong, Vice Head of InternationalOfficeand Deputy Dean of the School of International Exchange, and relevant staff from International Office attended the meeting.

Yao Jie first extended a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Canterbury and introduced the development history and international exchange cooperation of our university, with a focus on our educational characteristics and advantage disciplines. Ashraf Jawaid thanked us for the warm reception and provided an overall introduction to the history, basic situation, and educational philosophy of the University of Canterbury. Richard Davie introduced the talent cultivation model and advantage majors of the Centre for Language and Linguistics at the University of Canterbury, expressing his hope for extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation with our university to build a high-quality educational exchange platform for both sides and achieve win-win cooperation.

During the meeting, both parties conducted detailed discussions on a series of projects, including joint doctoral training programs, teacher visits, student exchanges, and UK summer camps. They reached a consensus on the direction of cooperation and the cultivation model and put forward constructive suggestions and opinions for future cooperative development.

The University of Canterbury is located in the historic and cultural city and transportation hub of Canterbury, UK. The city, situated in the southeast of England, is known for its warm climate, rich vegetation, and beautiful scenery, earning it the nickname The Garden of England.
