Deepen the Cooperation with UWA

On March 27th, a delegation from the University of Western Australia visited Shanghai. Yao Jie, the Headof the SLU International Office, along with her team, visited and was warmly received by Professor Jennifer Howell, the vice president of the University of Western Australia.


The meeting was attended by Professor Anu Rammohan, Director of Global Engagement, UWA Business School, Ms. Sandy Ng, Project Advisor at UWA Global Engagement Office, and Director of AEA, and Ms. Rachel Darovic, Global Engagement Manager at the Vice President's Office. Representing our university in the meeting were Shen Yuehong, Vice Head of the International Office, He Qin, Deputy Dean of the School of Accounting, Dong Shijun, Director of the International Program Center at the School of Accounting, and Lu Dayong, Deputy Dean of the School of Financial Technology, among others.

During the meeting, Yao Jie welcomed the representatives from the University of Western Australia to Shanghai and expressed the hope that this meeting would further advance the credit recognition program, international academic forums, and Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions discussed during the visit of Xie Chao, the Party Secretary of our university, to the University of Western Australia in December 2023. The university expressed sincere gratitude for the various cooperative supports provided by the University of Western Australia. He Qin and Dong Shijun introduced the latest developments in talent cultivation at the School of Accounting and discussed with the foreign party the credit articulation for the 1+1 dual master's degree program in auditing and the 3+2 integrated undergraduate and master's program in accounting. Lu Dayong provided a comprehensive introduction to the School of Financial Technology, including its overview, faculty, student size, Sino-U.S. cooperative education programs, and graduate employment situation, hoping that the two universities would conduct more student and faculty exchanges and scientific research cooperation in the field of financial technology in the future. The University of Western Australia highly values the good cooperative relationship established with our university over the past decade and has highly affirmed the quality of students at SLU. Both parties expressed their intention to closely cooperate in the fields of intended majors and academia.

The University of Western Australia, founded in 1911, is a research university located in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, and is one of the members of the Group of Eight, a coalition of leading Australian research universities. In the 2024 QS World University Rankings, the University of Western Australia ranked 72nd and has received two major international business school accreditations, AACSB and EQUIS. Its undergraduate finance major is accredited by the CFA Institute, and its accounting major is accredited by CPA Australia. The university has cultivated more than 100 Rhodes Scholars and Nobel Prize winners. Our university established a cooperative relationship with the University of Western Australia in 2015, carrying out activities such as mutual visits by university leaders, undergraduate and master's credit articulation programs, exchange student programs, winter and summer programs, and teacher cooperation in teaching and scientific research, with fruitful results.
