On June 21st, Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark Feng Tie and his entourage came to the city of Kolding and visited the International Business Academy (IBA) Confucius Institute. The IBA President Niels Egelund, former Mayor of Kolding and IBA Chairman Jørn Pedersen, and Danish Dean of IBA Confucius Institute Ildikó Antal, extended warm welcome to the visit, and introduced in detail the running of the Confucius Institute in IBA and the cooperation between IBA and its Chinese counterparts in education and business since its establishment.

Ambassador Feng Tie and his entourage visited the Confucius Institute and had a cordial conversation with the Chinese faculty and student representatives. The ambassador recognized and encouraged the achievements of the IBA Confucius Institute in Chinese language teaching and cultural exchange activities, and hoped that the Confucius Institute would build on current progress to strengthen cooperation with the business community, broaden cooperation channels, and create its own characteristics. He said that the Chinese Embassy in Denmark would also continue to support the operations of the Confucius Institute. In addition, Ambassador Feng Tie addressed the concerns of the students of the IBA Confucius Institute about studying in China and the summer camp, presented beautiful bookmarks and panda dolls to student representatives, and took a group photo with the teachers and students.

The ambassador and his entourage then had discussions with the IBA President and Danish Dean as well as the Danish board members of the IBA Confucius Institute. The ambassador said that the IBA had made outstanding contributions to the cultural, ideological, and commercial exchanges between China and Denmark since it cooperated with the Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU) in establishing the Confucius Institute. Ambassador Feng Tie thanked the IBA for its strong support to the Confucius Institute over the years, and said that China would do its best to provide the IBA students with opportunities to study in China. IBA Chairman and President said that Denmark and China have had close ties in education and business, and that the IBA as a business school would expect to serve as a better platform for China-Denmark cooperation. Both parties engaged in further discussions over deepening cooperation between the IBA and its Chinese counterparts in various areas.

Ambassador Feng Tie’s visit to the IBA Confucius Institute demonstrates the emphasis that has been placed in SLU’s Confucius Institute and the support to it, enhances the friendly relationship between the Danish IBA and China, and deepens bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the business and cultural fields.
