The Business English program has 17 full-time teachers, including 9 doctorate degree holders (52.9%), 4 with a senior title (23.5%), and 15 with overseas study backgrounds. The program is to train compound, applied and professional business English talents and strengthen practical ability and vocational development ability education. In 2017, this program was approved as a Shanghai Municipal Project for Undergraduate Pilot Specialty Construction in Colleges and Universities. In May 2018, it passed the undergraduate professional standard evaluation by Shanghai Institute of Education Evaluation .
In recent years, teachers of the program have published 3 monographs and 27 scientific research papers (including 15 core journal papers) and lead 10 university or higher-level projects. A total of 10 teachers won the prize of excellent teaching, 1 teacher got the title of “good teacher in students’ mind”, and many teachers won awards as excellent instructors in the Business English Debate Competitions and the Foreign Research Society Cup National English Competition.
Students of the program go to British and American countries for long-term and short-term exchanges and study every year. In recent years, more than 100 students have participated in the study, and the program has received nearly 100 British students for short-term exchanges and academic tours.
This program has been granted with the honorary title of “Advanced Collective in Employment” for 7 consecutive years. The Teaching and Research Office won the title of “Women Civilization Post” in 2017.
