Relying on the SLU advantages of accounting and economics, taking the program reform as the principle to meet the needs of social and economic development, aiming at improving students’ employability, and facing national and local economic development strategies and the social needs of developing new service industries, the Japanese program carries out the idea of cultivating “high-quality applied talents with moral integrity, practical ability, innovative consciousness and international vision”. The students should systematically master Japanese language skills as well as the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of business Japanese, equip themselves with profound humanistic literacy, strong language application ability, cross-cultural communication ability, and business practice ability, and be able to skillfully use Japanese in the international environment to engage in business management and practice or other related work.
The Japanese program has 14 full-time teachers and 1 Japanese teacher, including 2 associate professors. A total of 70% full-time teachers have Japanese study experience, while 61.5% have economic or business academic background and corporate experience.
In the past three years, three teachers have won the “Lixin Teaching Excellence Award of the Year”; 12 scientific research papers, 2 monographs and 1 translation work have been published; and 2 teachers have presided over 6 school-level projects. The department has constructed 2 university-level high-quality courses, “Advanced Japanese” and “Business Japanese”.
