CourseTitle:Probability andStatistics
Credit:3
Periodsper week:3 classes
Department:School of Statistics andMathematics
PreparatoryCourse:Calculus, Linear algebra
Students:Sciences and engineering major’s students
Contents:Probability and Statistics is a mathematicaldiscipline that studies the statistical Rules
of random phenomena. It is also a public basic course in universitiesof Finance and economics.
By studying the course, students can master the basic concepts andtheories and methods of
robability and statistics, and cultivate their ability to analyze andsolve practical problems by using
probability and statistics methods. This course includes two parts:probability theory and
mathematical statistics. The part of probability theory includes thebasic concepts of probability
theory, one dimensional and multi-dimensional random variables andtheir distributions, and the
numerical characteristics of random variables. The part ofmathematical statistics includes the
basic theory of statistics, the law of large numbers and the centrallimit theorem, the basic
knowledge of statistics, sampling distribution, parameter estimation, hypothesis testing, etc.,
That ensures the integrity of the course.
