The official opening ceremony of IBA Confucius Institute was celebrated on Oct.29thin Denmark. Attended were over 100 honored guests, including senior officials from the Department of Education, Science and Culture of Chinese embassy in Denmark, the Mayor of Kolding, the Presidents of both the International Business Academy (IBA) and Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU), and the representatives coming from Confucius Institute Headquarters, IBA Confucius Institute, local companies and local media.
The ceremony was hosted byNiels Egelund,president of IBA,who warmly welcomed guests from more than 20 different countries. He said that the successful upgrade of the Confucius Institute is not only the result of the cooperation between SLU and IBA, but also the crystallization of the exchanges between China and Denmark. IBA will continue to support the development of Confucius Institutes and jointly promote cultural and educational exchanges between Danish and China.
In his speech, Jorn Pedersen said that the local government has always attached great importance to the development of SLU and IBA Confucius Institute, and he hopes that IBA Confucius Institute will continue to play a role in cultural exchanges and become an important platform for Sino-Danish business cooperation and cultural understanding.
Gu Xiaomin reviewed the twists and turns when setting up Confucius Classroom in 2015 and the upgrading to the Confucius Institute. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the staff of the two universities committed to the construction of Confucius Institute, and the people from all walks of life who support the development of Confucius Institute, and willingness to promote the development of Confucius Institute with IBA under the guidance of the Confucius Institute Headquarters.
Ma Jianfei, deputy director general of Confucius Institute Headquarters, sent a congratulatory letter. In the letter, he expressed the hope that the two universities could continue their sincere cooperation and make concerted efforts to build the Confucius Institute for international business in Denmark into an important platform for students and the community to learn Chinese and understand China, and make greater contributions to promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and enhancing understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
Jorn Pedersen and Gu Xiaomin jointly unveiled the IBA Confucius Institute. The teachers of SLU performed Chinese calligraphy and painting for the guests, and sang Chinese classic songs. Chinese musicians tied it all together by playing both the popular Danish song ‘The Danish song is a young blonde girl’, and some traditional Chinese folk music.
The purpose of the IBACI is to spread awareness and knowledge of Chinese language and culture, while also promoting trade and cooperation between Chinese and Danish companies and organizations.
IBA Confucius Classroom was established on 28 October 2015 and upgraded to Confucius Institute in December 2018. This opening ceremony is of great significance to the development of IBA Confucius Institute, a landmark that the promotion of Confucius Institute will embark on a new journey.
