Our Confucius Classroom Attended Night of the Cultures in Kolding

In the afternoon of August 24thin Denmark, Confucius Classroom of International Business College held an event called “Night of the Culture of Kolding” on the theme of traditional Chinese culture by the lakeside. Deans of both sides of Confucius Classroom and several teachers and students of the university, artists from Chinese Art Ensemble of Copenhagen and some artists of the Delegation of Inheritance of Intangible Cultural Heritage from Tianjin worked together and put on fantastic performances which attracted a lot of citizens stopping to watch their performance and also participating in the event. Mr. Jorn Pedersen, mayor of Kolding, and his wife, were present in the event to give their support and they also took group photos with some of artists.

A rich variety of wonderful activities were organized in the Confucius Classroom, including Show of Han Chinese Clothing, Culture Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Tea Art, Ocarina and so on. At the same time, they also prepared gifts such as bookmarks, facial makeups in Beijing Opera, Chinese knots and panda dolls, etc. and gave them to the participants as gifts, and their performances attracted a lot of citizens who stopped to appreciate the performance.

Zhang Yujie, together with other three students from our university sang the song of The Most Fascinating Folk Style, andalso performed Xinjiang dance named “Why Flowers are so Red”; Zhang Yajie of the Delegation of Inheritance of Intangible Cultural Heritage from Tianjin displayed dough modelling culture of China, and he pinched and rubbed the dough with the hands adroitly, so that adorable dough animals were magically presented to the children in a minute, such as the smart rabbit, powerful dragon and cute goat, etc. The children kept their gaze fixed upon the dough animals: Sun Changjun, an artist of Peking Opera, performed Peking Opera. He stood upright with fine and special makeup on his face and his singing was resonant, which won repeated applause of the audience; Wang Honglin, an artist, performed Tai Ji, and he also demonstrated several simple movements on the site, trying to teach the audience how to build up their bodies with Tai Ji, and the audience mimicked his movements perfectly; the artists from Chinese Art Ensemble of Copenhagen sang a classic song of the Mongol nationality “the Ends of the Earth” sentimentally in Mongolian costumes. Simon and Torben, two artists, played Chinese traditional instruments of Chinese such as zither and erhu, with the beautiful melody attracting a lot of audience.

During the activity, mayor of Kolding greeted them and visited the event. He shook hand with deans of both sides of Confucius Classroom, members of Tianjin Artist Delegation and students and expressed his support and best wishes to this cultural event.
