In December 2015, Mr. Ziemowit Kukulski, an Associate Professorof the University of Lodz, Deputy Head of the Tax Documentation and StudyCenter was invited to delivered the course on International Taxation Law for 4weeks.
Professor Kukulski shared his latest researchfindings in the field of International Taxation treaties, analyzed thesimilarities and differences between the OECD Model Convention and the UN ModelConvention, elaborated how the OECD Model Convention and UN Model Conventionaffected Poland’s tax treaty practice, and he also discussed the taxharmonization in EU.
With rich experiences in deliveringall-English course to international students, Professor Kukulski prepareddetailed slides and demonstrated tax cases by drawing charts and tables in theblackboard in order to make his speech easily understood by Chinese students.Our Chinese students really appreciated his presentation in the class andprepared one thank-you gift to him and also took a collective photo with himfor memory at the end of the course.

In the conference for2015 teaching qualitypromotion and teaching experience exchange, which was organized by the Schoolof Finance and Public Administration, Professor Kukulski firstlybriefed the organization structure, major functions and academic resources ofUniversity of Lodz, Faculty of Law and Administration as well as the TaxDocumentation and Studies Center. Second, he emphasized the importance ofinviting law practitioners to deliver professional courses to students. Third,he presented how the Faculty of Law and Administration provided intensive taxlaw courses with significant teaching hours to students and how to cooperatewith the Faculty of Management to deliver accounting courses to students, andhe stressed that this diversity in faculty had achieved significant effect, forinstance, the faculty of Law and Administration ranked the second in Poland andtheir graduates were acknowledged as very popular and competitive by Polishemployers. Finally, he presented the strong academic network of the TaxDocumentation and Study Center, for instance, one of the Center’s majorpartners is International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (“IBFD”) situated inAmsterdam of Netherland, and the Center has already organized a few InternationalTaxation conferences whose paper contributors came from Central Europe, EasternEurope and Russia.
Under the general cooperation agreement betweenShanghai Finance University and University of Lodz, Professor Kukulski alsodrafted an executive agreement between School of Finance and PublicAdministration of Shanghai Finance University and Tax Documentation and StudyCenter of University of Lodz. The executive agreement has already been signedby Dean of School of Finance and Public Administration of Shanghai FinanceUniversity and will hopefully be signed by the Tax Documentation and StudyCenter of University of Lodz by early 03ch 2016.
The short-term exchange program ofinternational faculty has already set up a good role model for our furtherexchange and cooperation in more fields. We are looking forward to continuing theinternational exchange and cooperation either in teaching or scientificresearch.
